Day #67

Today we said goodbye to our new friends Bernie and Gladys Daniels and set out from the Cub Scout camp. We had a pretty enjoyable hike until the logging area that we had heard all about. It wasn’t difficult to navigate thanks to the new flagging but the conditions were treacherous. I fell twice, landing hard on my knees the first time and nearly twisting my ankle the second. Luckily we made it out in one piece. We had a delicious lunch of sandwiches, carrots, cookies, and grapes thanks to Gladys. It doesn’t sound like much but to a hiker it doesn’t get much better. We called it a night when we found a three sided shelter on the county cross country ski trails. We stayed fairly warm and got about 10 hours of sleep. (cont. On day #68)
